Japanese Hirado Porcelain of Monkey and Baby Early 20th C. The detail is in the modelling with very limited use of colour and details scupluted to the body as shown. Hirado ware is a type of Japanese Porcelain known for its underglaze cobalt blue and white porcelain. The amount of blue often low, showing off the detailed modelling and the very fine white colour of the porcelain. This has a finer grain than most Japanese procelains allowing for fine detail and complicated openwork in forms. Height approx 8″.
